THE CHALLENGE

Set on a Wake Forest equestrian property, this project set out to integrate an existing residence, horse barn, pastures, circulation, outdoor living spaces, privacy, and support local ecology.

LANDSCAPE STRATEGY

The master plan was developed to honor the rhythm of the land while creating a cohesive outdoor environment that supports both everyday life and the needs of an equine estate. We designed an outdoor living space, circulation to and from the main house, considered views from the patio to the pasture, and transitions between home, pasture, and gathering spaces—ensuring the landscape feels intuitive, enduring, and deeply connected to its setting. Native and adaptive plantings soften the edges of the property, while structured outdoor areas provide moments of calm, arrival, and retreat.

​The result is a landscape that feels effortless yet intentional—rooted in place, responsive to lifestyle, and designed to mature gracefully over time.
